Perforated Tear-Out Notebooks

If pages are meant to come out — order forms, site notes, worksheets, receipts — the book needs a perforation, and it has to sit inboard of the punched holes. Tearing a sheet off the coil itself always shreds, because the paper fails through the weakest hole rather than in a straight line.

The perforation itself is a real specification: tie-to-cut ratio decides whether pages fall out on their own in a bag or need two hands and a swear word. We set it for how the book will be carried, and we will tell you which way we have erred.

Where pages are meant to stay in, we do the opposite and move the punch line further from the edge, so the web of paper between the hole and the edge cannot fail. Those two decisions are opposites and getting them the wrong way round is the most common defect in this category.
